Home Charger NZ (“we”, “us”) helps EV owners in New Zealand compare home charger installation options and connect with local installers. This policy explains what personal information we collect and how we handle it, consistent with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you submit a quote request, we collect the details you provide, such as:

• Your name, email address and (optionally) phone number
• Your city and suburb (we do not require your exact street address)
• Details about your property, EV and intended charger setup
• Any photos you choose to upload

How we use it

• To review and qualify your enquiry
• To share your enquiry with relevant local installers, with your consent, so they can contact you with a quote
• To send you a confirmation and follow up on your enquiry
• To improve our service

Analytics and site measurement

We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the site — which pages are read, which links are clicked, and where the quote form is confusing. Clarity also records anonymised session replays and heatmaps.

• The quote form is masked. Anything you type into it — your name, email, phone number and property details — is hidden from session replays. We can see that a field was being filled in, never its contents.
• These tools set cookies and record your approximate location, device and browser.
• We use this only to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising.
• To opt out, enable “Do Not Track” or a tracking blocker in your browser, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Sharing with installers

We only share your details with installers if you have given consent on the quote form. We keep a record of which installer received your enquiry. We do not sell your information or share it for unrelated marketing.

Where your enquiry is stored and who processes it

We store only the information needed to handle your enquiry, transmit it securely over HTTPS, and restrict access. We do not publish your enquiry details publicly.

We use a small number of established service providers to run the site. They process your information on our behalf, under our instructions, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Google Cloud (Firestore) — stores your enquiry so we can manage and follow up on it.
• Brevo — sends the confirmation email to you and the enquiry email to us.
• Slack — notifies our team that a new enquiry has arrived, so it can be actioned quickly.

These providers operate servers outside New Zealand, so your information may be stored or processed overseas. We choose providers that offer protections comparable to those required by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep it

We keep quote enquiries for up to 24 months so we can handle follow-up questions and resolve any dispute about work arranged through the site, after which we delete them. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing [email protected]. You can also withdraw consent to share your details with installers.
